A spirited sculpture exhibition

Highlights – 100th Anniversary of the Association of Finnish Sculptors

Upon reaching the impressive milestone of 100 years of operation, the Association of Finnish Sculptors commemorates its anniversary with the exhibition at the Wäinö Aaltonen Museum of Art in summer 2010.

Museum open until late at night

Happening on the Night of the Arts at WAM

On 12th of August the Wäinö Aaltonen museum is open until 23:00. There are guided tours to the Highlights-exhibition and a sale on the products of the musem store. In addition the ensemble Laulavan pensaan pojat is performing.

Variations of Convoluted Movement in a Wäinö Aaltonen mini-exhibition

Wäinö Aaltonen is always contemporary in his own museum, even when other exhibitions fill the main halls. Pieces of art with convoluted movement being a theme in its different forms are presented in the corridor space behind the inner courtyard.

Turku has received a new urban sculpture

Europe by Jits Bakker

The Dutch sculptor Jits Bakker has donated one of his works, a bronze sculpture entitled Europe, to the City of Turku. The sculpture is located in the Tervatori park at the end of Yliopistonkatu and Kutomokatu streets.
